just 362 short days away!
Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the most frequently asked questions about Megaplex and their answers.
General Questions
- Where is Megaplex going to be located this year?
Megaplex is now in Kissimmee, Florida, which is just south-west of Orlando - think of it as part of the greater metropolitan Orlando area. We are just a mile away from the Disney World theme parks and many other favorite Orlando area attractions are within a ten-mile radius of the convention hotel. Visit our Travel Section for all kinds of information about Kissimmee and how to get there.
- How much does it cost to attend?
As little as $35 if you pre-register at our Attending level. Of course, if you want more perks or just want to give more support to the convention, we do have other membership levels - see our registration section for all the details.
- How old do I have to be to attend?
Anyone can attend Megaplex with a paid membership. However, anyone between 16 and 18 years old (as of the first day of the convention) must either be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or have a signed and notarized Minor Consent Form with them when picking up their badge at the convention. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Hotel Questions
- What is the address of the hotel?
Radisson Resort Worldgate 3011 Maingate Lane Kissimmee, FL 34747
- How big is the hotel, and how is it laid out?
The Radisson World Resort has 566 guest rooms split between two towers that have seven floors each. Each tower has three elevators plus two guest-accessible stairwells that run between all floors. The convention space that Megaplex will be using is located adjacent to the north tower, on the ground floor of the hotel. Most if not all guest rooms booked in the Megaplex block should be located in the north tower for easy access to the convention space. You can find a diagram of the hotel in the Hotel section of our website.
- Does the hotel allow pets?
Unfortunately, the Radisson Worldgate does not allow pets on the premises (service animals are, of course, allowed.)
- Does the hotel have smoking rooms?
As of this year, the Radisson WorldGate is a 100% non-smoking facility.
- Does the hotel have a minimum age requirement for renting a room?
The hotel requires that anyone renting a room (i.e., the person who's name is on the reservation) be at least eighteen (18) years old.
- If I reserve my room with my debit card, will the hotel charge it immediately?
The hotel does not charge your card until you check out. HOWEVER, when you actually check in at the hotel, they will put a hold on your card for the estimated cost of your stay, including potential incidentals. You will not be able to access the funds in your account that are under this hold until it clears, and the hold can sometimes remain for several days after you check out. For this reason, we highly recommend that, if possible, you check in using a regular credit card, even if you reserved your room using a debit card (you can switch cards when you check in.) Also, if you are wanting to minimize the amount of the hold on your card, ask the hotel to turn off all "extras" (i.e. pay-per-view TV, long-distance, etc.) for your room when you check in.
- Does the hotel charge for parking or have a resort fee?
The Radisson Worldgate does normally charge a daily parking/resort fee, but if you reserve in our room block (use the code 'PAWPET' when reserving), you will not be charged this fee.
- Do I have to stay at the Radisson Worldgate Hotel to attend Megaplex?
Staying at the Radisson Worldgate is not required to be able to attend Megaplex -- as long as you purchase your con membership, either ahead of time or at-the-door, and follow all of our Convention Policies, you can stay anywhere else you would like and still attend the convention. In fact, people who live in the area will sometimes even commute to the convention hotel from their home each day. That said, there are some really good reasons for booking a room at the convention hotel, which we will be posting shortly.
Food and Entertainment Questions
- Where can I get something to eat in and around the hotel?
The hotel has a full-service restaurant open for breakfast and dinner, and a deli bar / Pizza Hut express which is open throughout the day. In addition, Sponsor, Super Sponsor, and Mega Sponsor attendees can get snacks and drinks in the Megaplex Sponsor lounge (check your pocket schedule at the con for lounge location).
Outside the hotel, there are half-a-dozen restaurants within walking distance, and many more within a couple miles driving range. A list of area restaurants can be found in our Local Business Guide.
- What all is there to do in the Orlando / Kissimmee area besides Megaplex?
There are so many attractions in the Orlando / Kissimmee area that it would be impossible to list them all. As a starter guide, we have tried to list out some of the best known attractions, but there are many others out there. The hotel can be an excellent resource in this area - there are many brochure stands positioned throughout the hotel, and the hotel concierge can also be of assistance. For pre-trip planning, be sure to check out the guide links on our main Travel Page.

Fursuits and Puppets
- Can I wear my fursuit at Megaplex?
Absolutely! Feel free to wear your fursuit while you are at Megaplex, both in the convention space and around the hotel. We're even working on setting up a fursuiter-friendly outing to a local amusement park. However, outside of the hotel property and any officially arranged outside events, you are on your own, and you would be best advised to not wear your fursuit anywhere else unless you or someone you trust has made proper prior arrangements with the appropriate location management.
- Is there someplace (other than the restrooms) where I can change in and out of my fursuit if I don't have a hotel room?
Yes, we will have a special room called the Fursuiter Lounge (also known as a Headless Lounge) that is just for fursuiters to use for suiting up and taking breaks. You'll find ice cold water, towels, fans, and more in the lounge to help keep you comfortable, and the lounge will be open whenever the rest of the convention space is open to attendees.
Please note that use of the Fursuiter Lounge is at your own risk - the convention and the hotel take no responsibility for anything left in the lounge, and in particular you should never leave any valuables in the lounge. Also, if you need to change in and out of the clothes you are going to wear under your costume, please use the nearby hotel restroom.
- Do you offer any fursuiter specific programming?
We certainly do! We always have a fursuiter parade and fursuiter games (much akin to mascot games), and we are planning to offer several educational panels about performing and building fursuit characters. We may offer other activities as well - keep checking our Programming Events section for the latest updates.
- Can you offer any suggestions on how to interact with fursuiters at the convention?
- What about us puppeteers?
You are more than welcome to bring your puppet characters with you to Megaplex and to show them off in the hallways and common spaces of the conventions, just like the fursuiters do with their characters. We'll also have some puppetry specific programming - keep watching our Programming Events section for the latest updates.
Dealer's Den / Artist's Alley Questions
- Does Megaplex have a Dealer's Den or Artist's Alley?
Megaplex will definitely have a Dealer's Den again in 2010 (with more space than in 2009), and we may also offer an Artist's Alley.
- Do dealers and artists have to collect sales tax?
Yes, under Florida Law, all dealers and artists must collect and remit sales tax on any sales made at Megaplex. Further information on this can be found on the Flordia Department of Revenue website.
- Does Megaplex run a central register for it's Dealer's Den?
At this time, Megaplex does not plan to run a central register. All dealers are responsible for handling and tracking their own sales, and reporting their own sales tax collections.
- Can't I just sell in the hallways or out of my hotel room?
Unfortunately, no. Due to state, hotel, and convention polices, all sales (whether of merchandise or commissions) must be conducted in the Dealer's Den. Anyone found conducting sales in other places on hotel property will be subject to having their convention membership revoked without any refund.
- Okay, how do I reserve a Dealer's Den table?
First, read all of the Dealer's Den Policies and make sure you understand and agree to them. Then, when pre-registration for the con opens, register for the convention and be sure to mark the options to reserve a table. The cost of the table space you select will be added in with your registration fee, and you can pay both all at once.
If you've already registered for the convention, you can contact us to arrange to add a dealer's table to your registration, though be sure to check the main Dealer's Den page first, as the den does tend to fill up quickly.
